Preparing for Full-Service Movers

December 29, 2021

Getting ready to move is always stressful. Fortunately, choosing full-service movers can help relieve some of that stress. They can handle every aspect of your move, from dropping off packing supplies for do-it-yourself packers to handling everything for you. And that does mean everything! Full-service movers will pack, move, and unpack the entire house if you'd like. They can even move pianos and other heavy, awkward items.

What to Expect With a Full-Service Move

Do you have to get to that new job in a hurry? Maybe you want to be settled in your new home before school starts. In either case, you can head out and a full-service mover will see that your belongings arrive quickly and safely at your new home.

A full-service move includes:

  • All of the boxes and packing materials
  • Carefully packing up your old home, including disassembling furniture as needed
  • Cleaning up after ourselves
  • Delivery of your belongings to your new home
  • Unpacking everything in the appropriate rooms
  • Reassembling your furniture and placing it where you want it
  • Removing all of the packing materials

Steps You Can Take to Save Money During a Full-Service Move

With a full-service residential move, you can do as little or as much as you want prior to the move. It's completely up to you to decide whether you want to spend more time before the move or more money during the move. Prepping for the movers beforehand can decrease the amount of time the move takes, cutting down on the hourly cost of the move.

  • Declutter before the move. If you're not planning on keeping something, why pay to move it? You might be able to sell it to help pay for moving the items you do plan to keep! Donate or toss anything you can't sell.
  • Remove everything from the walls and disassemble any furniture you can.
  • Disconnect all electronics and wrap up the cords.
  • Remove any overflowing clothing or personal items from dressers (most clothing can stay as long as it's not sticking out).
  • Make sure all of the walkways are clear on the day of the move.
  • Have a designated person available to watch small children and keep them out of harm's way.
  • Keep your pets safe in a quiet, escape-proof room during the move, and pack that room up last.
