10 Steps for Properly Packing Your Boxes

The easiest way to make a move as effortless as possible is to pack your boxes properly. Check out these steps to follow to ensure the moving process goes smoothly:

Tape the bottom of the box to support weight of packed goods.

Layer the bottom of the box with packing paper to form a cushioned bottom.

Start by packing heavier items on the bottom, working to the lightest goods on top.

Use plenty of packing paper.

Use packing peanuts or foam to protect your goods.

After one layer is packed, make another layered cushion of packing paper on top of your belongings and start on a new layer.

Make sure there are no empty spaces and make sure nothing is shifting around inside your box.

Pack the box all the way to the top to avoid shifting and crushed boxes.

Once packed to the top, fold the flaps in and use about 3 pieces of tape to ensure top will stay closed.

Label the top and at least one side of the box with Sharpie or a magic marker. Be sure to include what the general contents are and where to put the box at your new destination.
